METRAN MEN HADA AL-TURAB y Ahmad Natche, special mention of the Georges de Beauregard International Prize, selected as a world premiere at FID 2012, was programmed at the Rencontres Internationales des Cinémas Arabes (International encounters of Arabic Cinemas) in Marseille (May 28th – June 2nd) and will be screened at FIDOCS, in Santiago, Chile, from June 24th until June 30th 2013.

   
 
 
 

HASTA EL SOL TIENE MANCHAS by Julio Hernández Cordón, which was awarded the Marseille Espérance award and special mention of Georges de Beauregard International Prize, selected as World premiere at FID 2012, is programmed by ECLAT / Villa Arson on June 2nd at 14h30 at Musée national Fernand Léger de Biot, as part of the first series called Une peinture habitable, of the exhibition Métropolis. Fernand Léger and the city (March 23rd – October 7th 2013) – with the support of FID and Lieux Fictifs.

   
 
 
 

PROFIT MOTIVE AND THE WHISPERING WIND by John Gianvito, in International Competition, screened as international premiere at FID 2007, is screened as part of the series Correspondance: John Gianvito / Sylvain George, at cinema Action Christine, in Paris, on June 4th 2013 at 8:30 pm.  SOTCHI 255 by Jean-Claude Takin Prix Georges de Beauregard National, in French Competition, screened as World premiere at FID 2012, is projected in a Séance Phantom at Cinéma Kursaal in Besançon, on June 13th 2013, at 8:30 pm, followed by a discussion with the director.

   
 
   
 

I AM IN SPACE by Dana Ranga, in International Competition, selected as World premiere at FID 2012, was selected at IDFA, in Amsterdam, from November 15th until November 25th, 2012, at festival It's All True, in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia (Brazil), from April 4th until April 21st, 2013, and at WorldFest in Houston (Etats-Unis), from April 12th until April 21st, where he received the Silver Remi Award. The film was also programmed at Docville in Leuwen (Belgium), from May 3rd until May 11th, 2013, and at Planete+Doc, in Warsaw, Pologne, from May 9th until May 19th, 2013, where he won the Focus Award, for the astronaut Jean-François Clervoy.

     In coproduction with Marseille-Provence 2013, European Capital of culture, the FIDMarseille joins forces with Alphabetville, the Institut national de l’audiovisuel, and the cipM, to celebrate the œuvre of Pier Paolo Pasolini.

23 films, thematic exhibitions, readings, lectures, performance and archival videos will be proposed from May, 14th until June, 29th. The integral retrospective of films by Pier Paolo Pasolini will also be screened during the 24th edition of FIDMarseile, from July, 2nd until July, 8th 2013.

Locations : Centre de la Vieille Charité - Cinéma le Miroir and cipM, Centre Régional de Documentation Pédagogique, Friche Belle de Mai, montévidéo, Villa Méditerranée, MuCEM.

CAMPUS 2013 / Young creators in the Mediterranean

CAMPUS 2013 is a project by Marseille-Provence 2013 that aims to develop a platform for exchanges and dialogue focusing on creations by young people. With these seven projects, co-produced by regional art schools, young Mediterranean artists will be able to take part in a series of master classes, as well as present their work to the public between 1 and 13 July 2013.

FIDCampus is part of CAMPUS.


 

Eleven students from eleven partner Mediterranean art or film schools will take part in this program. The students will have the opportunity to discuss their graduation films with renowned professionals such as Yann Dedet, editor, Caroline Champetier, director of photography, and Marie Voignier, director. They will attend the two days of FIDLab, FIDMarseille’s international coproduction platform. The program continues with a panorama of international funding opportunities and a meeting with producers Philippe Avril (France, Unlimited), and Luis Urbano (Portugal, O som e a fùria), a visit of postproduction studios la Planète rouge with their director Lionel Payet.
Orientations, talk with the director Ismaïl Bahri and his producer Olivier Marbeuf (Espace Khiasma, France).

Talks by Caroline Champetier, director of photography, (Wednesday, July 3rd), Yann Dedet, editor, (Thursday, July 4th), Tsai Ming Liang, director (tbc) will be open to the public.MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilization) will showcase a special screening of FIDMarseille, where films by students selected in FIDCampus will be shown to the public in MuCEM’s auditorium. A panel discussion on festivals’ growing role in young director’s education will close this day dedicated to today’s young cinema.
