A pioneer in the field of emerging cinematographic forms, the FIDMarseille is now acknowledged among the most prominent international festivals as a pool of young film-makers and new cinematographies. At the core of its artistic choices: the documentary. Defending it as the art of testimony, without format requirements, the festival welcomes films and artists crossing boundaries of arts. Two years ago, the festival came to a major turning point: the official selection now features not only documentaries but also fiction films. These fictions all display a topical, visual or interactive connection with the documentary genre.

Coming from this singular programming, a significant amount of film-makers discovered at the FIDMarseille subsequently entered the international production and distribution network.

 Principles of the FIDLab

→ 10 film projects from all over the world selected by the FIDMarseille, at every stage of production.

→ Meeting between coproducers, distributors, production aid funds, or other potential fund providers for production, diffusion and distribution.

→ 2 days during the festival to arrange private meetings, and a personalized accompanying programme.

→ Visual presentation of the project during a meeting with the audience.

→ Awarding of a prize.

→ By the year 2013: reinforcing the FIDLab with a production aid fund capable of
supporting 10 films a year.
